PRESS RELEASE
DITTY's new single AZADI
drops on the 13.09.2024
Āzādī is an offering of hope.
It is a reminder to uplift all around us– human and non human.
Ditty comes back, 5 years after her Debut, Poetry Ceylon (called ‘debut album of the year’ by India Today) with her single, Azadi. This is her first Hindi song.
The chorus of the song is ‘Parvaton ki khamoshi ko samjho na tum buzdili’
Translation – Don’t mistake the silence of the mountains as cowardice / Halte die Stille der Berge nicht für Feigheit.
The song sees her experiment with production in a way that is unexpected and beautiful. She says ‘I always dreamed of producing outdoors. We recorded my voice and guitars in the Aravali forest. The birds and the forest sang along and are also recorded LIVE on the track. All other instruments– cello, guitars and synths were overdubbed.’
The song is recorded in the 1.5 billion years old Aravali forest. (The Himalayas are 450 million years old.) Ditty says, ‘I’d like to acknowledge and pay respects to the ancient land where my ancestors come from’ in the context of recent events, she says ’ We are not a free nation until each one of us is free.’
